My Bare Footprint
This blog was created to communicate the variety of experiences that I will encounter over the next two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nicaragua's Small Business Development Program. My goal is to make a difference on the ground in Nicaragua from a sustainable business standpoint, but I also seek to enlighten my readers by sharing personal challenges and reflections. Hopefully through this blog you will feel the vibrant culture of Nicaragua and have a greater appreciation for a country in desperate need of our help. Through the documentation of my adventures, I aim to motivate others to "be the change they wish to see in the world"(Gandhi). At the end of two years of service I hope that the size of my footprint on Nicaragua equals the enthusiasm I have to make a difference.
The Author
After about three very eye opening years in Corporate America I decided to take my business skills to a whole new level, helping others through development work. As a Small Business Advisor and Educator I will be applying my knowledge in finance and general business to improve the lives of Nicaraguans. I will be consulting small business owners on productivity and accounting as well as preparing young Nicaraguans for their chance out of poverty as an entrepreneur. Traveling is a part of my life and living abroad has been a personal goal. I have always had a passion for the Latin American culture and I'm looking forward to immersing myself in everything Nicaraguan.
Good luck Kate! Be Safe and spread love! I will be praying for you!!
